Responsibilities

The Technical Consultant is an individual contributor responsible for installation, configuration, engineering and management of complex application environments that may include multiple operating system platforms, languages, and network topologies.

  • Participate in business requirement gathering meetings with business users to understand all aspects of the business (functionality, processes, technologies); determine feasibility of requests; identify best approach to provide technology solutions to meet business needs; provide detailed estimations (time, cost, resources); and then translate into technical specifications.
  • Complete full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) from design, flowcharting, development, testing and implementation. This includes strong integration with other systems. Must be able to provide recommendations for enterprise architecture
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for all related systems and technologies. This includes being a point of contact for business users. Requires strong problem solving and communication skills to interpret issues and provide resolution. Must be able to coordinate with vendor for escalation of support related issues.


Essential Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or an equivalent combination of course work and job experience
  • Years of Experience: 7 - 10 of development experience
  • 7+ years of Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle DB
  • 5+ years integration experience
  • Technical expertise in required languages, operating systems, databases, development tools, networking, and/or software packages.
  • Participates in full lifecycle projects to understand business requirements and then complete the design, development, testing, implementation and post production support.
  • Participates in discussions concerning innovative, cost effective ways to implement new technologies to lead in the evaluation of new products, platforms, and technologies leveraging best practices based on industry standards and lessons learned while taking innovative
  • Translate functional specifications into technical specifications to provide low level details for development lifecycle.
  • Work with external vendors/partners through knowledge transfer to understand set up, configurations and design in order to provide on-going enhancements and support.
  • Participates in system walk-throughs of technical and operational features, functions and attributes of a new or existing software package.
  • Provides input on associate evaluations.
  • Perform administrative functions relation to project activities; project plans, technical specification development, status reports, issue reporting, etc.
  • Ability to determine feasibility of business requests, estimate timelines and resources needed, and assist project manager with project planning.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call support activities


Technical Skills:
  • Must be very proficient at SQL
  • Must have solid experience in the following technologies: C#, and .Net
  • Must have 5 years' experience with major ETL tool, such as SSIS, DataStage or ODI (SSIS preferred)
  • Must have 5 years of experience using the following technologies: XML, DTDs, XSLT
  • Experience with Point of Sale Systems design/development (NCR Preferred)
  • Experience with Payment Systems design/development (AJB preferred)
  • Must have some experience working on SOA development - API development, RESTful Web Services
  • Experience with batch scheduling tools such as Control-M / Automic
  • Experience with LDAP / Active Directory preferred
  • Must have experience with Windows (2012-2019) Administration and IIS (6-7.5) Administration
  • Experience with OMS preferred
