Responsibilities

The External Reporting Sr Accountant plays a key role in our external financial reporting activities and processes, including compliance with all aspects of accounting and financial reporting requirements, consolidating and preparing financial statements and other information within public filings (e.g., 10Ks, 10Qs, 8Ks, earnings releases etc.).

Responsible for accurate extraction of information from accounting systems of record and will be expected to assist with certain stock plan administration duties, with accounting for share based compensation and preparing analysis to support impairment assessments. Assesses new and developing accounting literature/guidance and pronouncements and assists with ad hoc Census Bureau reporting.
  • Preparation and analysis of externally reported documents, including 10Q's, 10K's, & earnings releases using our third-party reporting software (Workiva). This also includes coordinating the review with external auditors and external and internal legal counsel and review of XRBL
  • Financial close related items including preparation of consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and statement of shareholders equity) and items included in monthly bank reporting package. Also includes preparation of asset impairment analysis on a quarterly basis and other financial close items as required..
  • Accounting and reporting related to long term incentive compensation (stock-based compensation and cash awards) including stock plan administration and forecasting as well as calculation of weighted shares outstanding.
  • Collaborate with legal and HR on monthly vesting/forfeitures and in preparation and filing of 8K's, Proxy Statement, and executive and board Form 4's. Also prepare quarterly board payments and assist with ad hoc Census Bureau reporting.

Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Experience: 3-6 years of experience, specifically in the areas of SEC reporting, accounting research and/or external audit
  • Ability to work and function independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks/assignments and consistently meet deadlines
  • Certification: CPA (in progress)

Critical Skills & Attributes
  • Possess practical experience/ working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting
  • Experience in Securities and Exchange Commission filings
  • Experience with a Big 4 or large regional public accounting firm
  • Familiarity with researching accounting guidance, including stock-based compensation
  • Retail industry experience
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other associates and outside vendors and maintain the highest level of company integrity
  • Proficiency in Workiva and Microsoft Office products
