Responsibilities

The HR Advisor provides proactive coaching to managers aimed at building and strengthening leadership capabilities. The role focuses on consulting and reinforcing the enterprise-wide talent strategy. As a subject matter expert on policies and employment law, this role serves as a trusted advisor to leaders.

  • Proactively engage with all levels of management regarding interacting with their direct reports and communicating effectively
  • Provide practical advice and coach managers "how to" manage emotionally charged situations, navigate interpersonal challenges, manage emotions, and understand corporate policies and apply them equitably and consistently
  • Make recommendations on performance and post-investigation outcomes; consult on appropriate documentation and follow-up
  • Support leaders to build talent strategies for teams and individuals ensuring consistent practice around development and performance
  • Drive and deploy programs that maintain a healthy workplace culture
  • Work closely with Associate Relations to identify themes and trends across the enterprise. Ensure smooth transitions of sensitive concerns to Associate Relations team to formally respond and investigate allegations as required by internal processes and/or external agencies
  • Consult with Organizational Development to share key gaps and to help drive learning opportunities
  • Build strong and effective relationships with critical stakeholders and peers to share information, influence change, and leverage resources to deliver results. e.: Associate Relations, HR Business Partners, Legal, Benefits, LOA, HR Operations, etc.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, and Local reporting requirements


Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Psychology, Industrial Relations or a related field, additional years of experience considered in lieu of degree
  • 7+ years in progressive HR or related business experience, including 3+ years significant associate relations and performance management experience
  • Knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, compensation practices, associate relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws
  • Effectively able to work in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment
  • Excellent consultative skills and ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across varied stakeholder audiences including senior organizational leaders
  • Experience working with managers on complex associate relations concerns, performance management, disciplinary/termination requests, and reductions-in-force/reorganizations


Critical Skills & Attributes
  • Retail Industry Experience/Retail Environment preferred
  • Experience in coaching leaders and conducting training on HR related topics
