Responsibilities

The Director Retail Applications will be responsible for driving multiple large enterprise initiatives throughout the full lifecycle; building and managing a team of associates and consultants; managing budgets and internal and external resources; managing, escalating and resolving risks/issues, and status reporting to senior management. This role will also be responsible for leading technology support teams for retail merchandising, product lifecycle management, planning, allocation, financials and human resources.

This role requires the ability to lead cross-functional teams that support systems used by Design, Merchandising, Planning, Allocation, Finance and HR to align strategies, prioritize initiatives, define scope and deliverables, manage projects and provide Level 2 and 3 production support as needed.

The desired candidate will be a leader and mentor to the team, that is willing and able to jump in, when needed as well as perform as an expert in domains of relevance. This candidate will work directly with our key vendor and business partners in support of the existing operations and will plan strategically to support dynamic business initiatives and a robust application and infrastructure portfolio.

  • Responsible for new software development, enhancements/modifications, system configuration, migrations/upgrades, and production support for all retail product and corporate applications
  • Leadership of the development, deployment and support of new and existing processes and tools to stakeholder business partners
  • Alignment of technology with business strategy; including scope definition, cost estimations, resource allocation, business requirements, process design, technical specifications, data management, compliance, testing, and production operations.
  • Overall accountable technology leader on large scale technology implementations using internal and external resources
  • Development of application roadmaps that addresses all near-term and long-term execution efforts

Required Experience & Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or relevant area of study
  • Experience: 10+ years hands-on experience leading complex technology solution implementations with proven experience in project management, production operations management, business and functional analysis, testing management and innovative problem solving.
  • Experience: 7-10 years leading and motivating associates and contractors on new development, enhancements, and production support in a retail environment.
  • Experience: 7-10 years of experience supporting systems use for retail Design, Merchandising, Planning, Allocation, Finance and HR business processes leveraging innovation and automation.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively cross-functionally and influence stakeholders; manage and balance stakeholder expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve complex processes with a track record of successfully leading and delivering projects
  • Ability to consistently support and lead teams on daily basis, or during emergencies, and regularly provide honest, direct feedback
  • Superior communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Experience working in the retail industry required
