The Assortment Planner is responsible for building pre-season bottoms up assortment plans which support both the merchandising and financial strategies of the company, gaining cross functional support. In this role, you will drive all the inventory needs of your business, as well as the approvals. Through analysis in-season, you will identify opportunities and/or risks, proactively adjusting and then advising your key business partners. Will work very closely with cross functional partners in merchandising and production to execute the GTM (Go To Market) process.

  • Develop Style/Choice counts pre-season which support the Strategic View of the Line (SVL) and the topside category financial plans, gaining the merchants alignment. Recommendations will consider increased productivities as well as edits based on store tier performance.
  • Collaborate with Merchandise Planner pre-season to help inform category level plans from a bottoms up perspective.
  • Build choice level plans for all planning metrics pre-season which support the topside financial plans and the aligned upon choice counts.
  • Determine depth, breadth and flow strategy of all inventory by location/channel, with the intention of maximizing sales and sell-through before markdown.
  • Continuously manage in-season adjustments to choice level plans based on risks/opportunities, promotional events and business needs.
  • Identify risks and opportunities to sales and inventory based on current trend and analysis. Provide recommended actions to cross functional team to gain alignment before execution.
  • Make price change recommendations based on style performance that support sales, turnover and markdown targets. Partner with Merchandise planner to ensure markdown plan accounts for aged merchandise resolution.
  • Oversee and help to coordinate channel, store tier and depth strategies with the allocation team based on analysis and future sales opportunities.
  • Present quarterly your assortment plans to leadership for final approval.
  • Build strong relationships with both your merchant and production partners as the GTM process relies heavily on constant communication and alignment across these functions.

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Years of Experience: 3-5 years in retail merchandise planning, demand planning, financial planning or analysis
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial performance metrics
  • Results oriented and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate to all levels with a clear, concise point of view
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Capacity to advance to high levels of computer literacy; exposure to relevant planning, finance, analytical, data management systems: Excel, Data Warehouse
